The Tinker Innovation Entrepreneurship Challenge (TIEC) was first introduced in 2015 by the Makers Club, in collaboration with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and the Industry, Community & Alumni Network (ICAN) UiTM Johor. The initiative aimed to promote innovation across all faculties, serving as a feeder for participation in university-level events such as IID and IIDEX (Invention, Innovation, and Design Exposition).
The first and second TIEC competitions were held in 2015 at PTDI, UiTM Pasir Gudang, focusing primarily on Diploma Final Year Projects. With rising interest and confidence, TIEC expanded to the state level in 2016, marking a major milestone for the organising committee. Building on this momentum, the event opened its doors nationwide across Malaysia in 2017, welcoming students from a wide range of higher education institutions. As the initiative continued to grow, 2019 marked TIEC’s leap into the international arena, attracting participants from institutions around the world and strengthening its reputation as an impactful innovation and entrepreneurship platform.
Carrying forward this strong legacy, the 3rd International i-TIEC 2026 will take another significant step by being conducted fully online, ensuring greater accessibility and global engagement without geographical limitations. For 2026, the event proudly welcomes students, school participants, and newly expanded industry professionals, recognising the importance of industry collaboration in driving real-world innovation.
Aligned with this vision, the theme for this year is:
“Empowering Innovation and Entrepreneurship for a Sustainable Future.”
This theme reflects our commitment to nurturing ideas and solutions that contribute to long-term societal, environmental, and economic resilience.
The 2026 edition promises to showcase groundbreaking ideas, impactful solutions, and forward-thinking entrepreneurial projects from students, schools, and industries worldwide. We look forward to your participation in this exciting online event!
